Design by Stotz

In 2019 we celebrated 100 years of Bauhaus. And 70 years Werkkunstschule Wuppertal. The Institute for Applied Art and Image Sciences at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal has taken the double anniversary as an occasion to put on an exhibition: bauhausfolgen. With more than 100 exhibits – from posters to furniture and metal constructions – the show explored the impact of the Bauhaus concept on design education and industrial design in Wuppertal to this day. From December 2019 to March 2020, among others, furniture by Reinhold Stotz, professor at the Werkkunstschule Wuppertal from 1927 to 1963, was on display. Oliver Stotz’s grandfather was, if you like, the founder of the „Stotz designer dynasty“.
